Your spots stay yours
Privacy Policy
Last updated October 30, 2026
Outfished is an app for logging catches and keeping personal-best records, with leaderboards and community features. This policy explains what we collect, what we show publicly, who helps us run the service, and how to delete your data. Questions: support@outfished.app.
The short version
- Your exact GPS location is never public. Not on leaderboards, not on share cards, not on this website. Only you see it.
- Public catches show a region only, like “Lake Okeechobee, FL”, and you can edit or blank the water body before a catch goes public.
- Photos shown publicly are copies with EXIF metadata stripped (including location and camera data).
- Your profile and catches are private by default. You choose what goes public.
- We don’t sell your personal information.
- You can delete your account and data from inside the app at any time, or by request (see Delete your account).
What we collect
Account
Email address or Sign in with Apple / Google identifier, your handle, display name, optional avatar, home region, unit preference and privacy settings.
Catches
Species, weight, length, girth, date and time, photos, the location where you logged the catch, water body name, method, lure or bait, technique, kept or released, notes, and whether a measurement is visible in the photo. We add conditions at the time of the catch (weather, pressure, wind, moon phase and, near the coast, tide stage).
Photos
Original photos are stored privately. We read the photo’s capture time and, if present, its embedded GPS to verify the catch. Photos are checked by automated image moderation before they can be public.
Saved spots
Places you save, with names and notes. Saved spots are visible only to you.
Community activity
Reactions, Crew memberships, badges, awards, reports you file and users you block.
Purchases
Whether you have Premium and its status. Payment details are handled by Apple or Google; we never see your card.
Website waitlist
If you join the waitlist on outfished.app we store your email address and, if you give them, your home state and whether you fish fresh, salt or both. We use this only to tell you when the app launches and about Outfished. Unsubscribe from any email, or ask us to delete it at support@outfished.app.
How we use it
- To run the app: store your log, compute personal bests, Trophy Scores, badges and leaderboards.
- To verify catches so the public boards stay honest.
- To keep the community safe: moderation, reports and blocks.
- To provide Premium features you pay for.
- To send notifications you allow (for example, when you lose a #1 spot) and service emails.
What is public
Only catches you mark public that are verified, plus your public profile if you turn it on. A public catch shows the species, size, date, photo (EXIF-stripped), your handle and the region. It never shows the exact location. Leaderboards, the Hall of Fame and public angler pages on this website show the same public information.

How long we keep it
As long as your account is open. When you delete your account we delete your profile, catches, photos, saved spots and community activity. Backups roll off within 30 days. We may keep records we’re legally required to keep.
Your choices and rights
- Make any catch or your whole profile private, edit the region shown, or delete catches any time.
- Download your catch log (Premium export) or ask us for a copy of your data at support@outfished.app.
- Delete your account in the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. Or follow these steps.
- Depending on where you live (for example California, Virginia, Colorado or the EU/UK) you may have rights to access, correct, delete or port your data and to object to certain uses. Email us and we’ll respond within the time the law requires.
